Friedman Fine Art's selection of financial trading-related old Chicago pictures includes interior and exterior images of various Chicago financial institutions throughout history, as well as work-day
images of people working as floor traders and stock
specialists. Historic black and white financial trading
photos from many other institutions, such as the New
York Stock Exchange and the Federal Reserve, are also
represented. Friedman Fine Art's black and white financial trading
photos are unmatched both in the range of the collection
and for their historical importance to trading and
finance. As the origin point for contemporary
commodities exchanges, Chicago has been historically and
remains the world's center of commodities exchanges.
Chicago is presently home to commodities exchanges the
Chicago Board of Trade, the
Chicago Mercantile Exchange
(CME Group), the U.S. Futures Exchange and the Chicago
Climate Exchange. The old Chicago pictures of the
collection show more than a century's worth of the
buildings home to the worldwide financial exchanges, and
the actual trade of commodities such as meats, grains
and energy, and derivative products such as futures and
spot prices. These black and white financial trading photos show
the evolution of the financial institutions throughout
history. The Chicago Board of Trade is the oldest
futures and options exchange in the world, having been
created in 1848 (recently merged with the
Chicago
Mercantile Exchange and collectively referred to as the
CME Group). While the Chicago Board of Trade has been
housed in the same building since 1930, Friedman Fine
Art's collection has images of some of the exchange's
previous buildings before that as well as construction
of its current home. The collection also includes old
Chicago pictures of the
Chicago Stock Exchange, the
Chicago Stock Market, the
New York Stock Exchange and Wall Street. Friedman Fine
Art offers the most comprehensive collection of
financial and trading photographs currently available.
Images include Chicago Board of Trade,
Federal Reserve,
Chicago Stock Exchange, Chicago Mercantile Exchange and
New York Stock Exchange traders.
